You run an insurance business

MGA, carrier or premium finance company. See how your book would run on Functional Finance before you sign: billing, collections, commissions and payouts.

See the Living Book

Your policy administration, agency management or ERP platform could offer Functional Finance to your customers. Prove the integration on a Labs tenant first.

Your role

You lead finance

See your fiduciary position: premium collected, what you owe your markets, and what you keep. Estimate what your program costs to run in the MGA Modeler.

Open the MGA Modeler

You close the books

Tie out receivables for any period, invoice by invoice. Run 33 finance reports, including aging, AR roll-forward, commission positions, carrier payables and refunds, each as a CSV.

Play a year of your books in the MGA Simulator

You run billing, collections or commissions

Work past-due invoices, cancellations, refunds and commission payouts in the tenant portal, the way you would in production. The call desk has runbooks for billing calls.

Request a Labs tenant

You build the integration

Call the same API the portals call, run flows step by step against the sandbox, and test your work on a Labs tenant.

Partner programs

Plug into the money side of insurance

Functional Finance runs billing, payments, reconciliation and payouts for MGAs, carriers, agencies and premium finance companies. Six partner programs let you serve them through the work you already do.

  • Insurance payment volume

Card and ACH payments and premium deposits from insurance programs, routed to your rail or bank. We build the connection to your API.

  • Offers at checkout

Premium finance offers appear beside the policy quote, where insureds decide how to pay.

  • One connector, every client

A PAS or AMS plug-in serves every client on that system, and channel partners run all their clients from one portal.

The Living Book

Run your book of business before you go live.

Tell Labs what you sell and who buys it. The Living Book writes new business on your Labs tenant every day. Insureds pay, pay late, change and cancel, and Functional Finance bills, collects, credits and refunds as it would in production. Then the Living Book checks the results.

  1. 01

    Define

Your published products and their versions, from your tenant portal.

  2. 02

    Describe

Who buys: how they pay, and how often they pay late, default, cancel or change the policy.

  3. 03

    Mix

How much business each product writes a day, and how that changes over time.

  4. 04

    Verify

Each result checked against the platform's records and its receivables reports, with links to the portals.

Ask it what-if

  • What if late payers rise after month three?

  • What if we publish a new product version next quarter?

  • What if more new insureds pay by ACH instead of card?

  • What if we write more new business next month?

  • What if more policies cancel mid-term?

In your Labs tenant

Run your back office the way you would in production.

Receivables and collections

Open, due now, past due and upcoming invoices, with credit memos and write-offs.

Commissions and payables

What each distribution partner earned and what you still owe. Clawbacks show when an endorsement reduces premium.

Treasury

Premium collected, what you owe your markets, and what you keep, with market remittance and a financial records export.

Finance reports

33 reports, including aging and AR roll-forward. Run them on demand or on a schedule, and download the CSV.

Our team sets up your Labs tenant. Tell us which screens and reports your team wants to evaluate.

Request a Labs tenant

In the developer portal

Try the API before you build on it.

API reference

Hand-written pages with parameters, response shapes and runnable code samples. Every endpoint is in the OpenAPI 3.1 spec.

Runnable flows

Insurance operations modelled end to end. Run a flow step by step against the sandbox and see each request and response.

Finance reports

Run each report against your sandbox tenant and download the CSV your integration will read.

Works with your AI tools

An MCP server, llms.txt, Markdown copies of the reference pages, and starters for Claude Projects, Cursor and Replit.

The docs and AI assistant open when you sign up with a business email. Your sandbox follows once Functional Finance approves it.

What to know about Labs

  • Labs is not production. Payments are simulated and no real money moves.
  • Please do not enter real customer data.
  • New releases reach Labs before production, so you see changes early. Urgent fixes can reach production first.
  • Packaged SDKs are coming. Today the portal has code samples in cURL, Node and Python.
